Energy stores and transfers are one of the really big ideas in physics and this is also a topic that AQA has announced will be in Paper 1 for the Trilogy examination this month.

With that in mind, I have created a new revision resource that you can use to check your knowledge and understanding. It’s a multiple-choice test with just 10 questions – but, although each question has only one correct answer, you can select multiple answers if you aren’t sure which one is right. But to do that, you have to split your “vote”. This means you can get part-marks if your answers include the right one. More importantly, it will help me to understand any confusions that you have and allow me to offer you individual feedback.

I have used this format with classes before and some students have really liked it and I hope it will be similarly appreciated by some of you too.

If you would prefer to complete a traditional multiple-choice test, normal versions are available here (docx) and here (pdf) – just choose whichever format is best for you. In fact, I would be interested to see how your multiple-response test differs from the traditional test, so please complete and send me both if you have time.

The confidence-based version is available as a write-on question sheet that you can download here (docx) or here (pdf) and an alternative, numerical, answer sheet that you can download here (docx) or here (pdf). When you have completed the worksheet (whichever version you choose) just email it to me either as a document or simply by photographing your work. I will mark it and send you some individual feedback about what you got wrong so that there is less chance of you making the same sort of mistake(s) in the final exam in a couple of weeks’ time.

Posting my email address online would be asking for trouble so I’ve created a new address that will only be live until the end of this year’s examination season. The address starts with my name (mrtarrant) and ends with cantab.net (with the usual symbol in between). I look forward to seeing your work.
