We’re going to start gently with our home learning: all you need to do for today is read a few pages in your revision guide then answer some questions and send me your work so that I can give you feedback.
Read pages 56 to 59 in CGP GCSE Physics Complete Revision and Practice. The first two pages should be completely familiar as we’ve gone through this content in class. The second two pages are about practicals to investigate the speed of waves in a gas (air), a liquid (water) and a solid (iron bar). You have all seen the first technique, using microphones, but I will post something in more detail about the other two. These are actually required practicals so we’ll have to go through them properly, with all the necessary equipment, when school re-opens.
When you have finished studying pp56-9 (and perhaps made your own notes to reinforce your learning – maybe in Cornell style but in any format that works for you) you must answer all the questions on p60. This includes both the Warm-Up and the Exam questions. You can check your answers in the back of the book, on p240.
Despite the fact that you can just copy the answers from the back of the book, I still want you to send me your work so that I can give you some feedback. Obviously, I’m not really interested in your final answers but I am VERY interested in your working out, for numerical questions, and in the way you phrase your written answers.
