The tests have been marked and the scores are in – but they don’t really matter. Obviously you care about how well you did (and rightly so) but what really matters is what you go on to learn after doing this test. In other words, there is always room for improvement.

The purpose of this posting is to help you achieve those improvements in your work. I have written a commentary that discusses how to answer each question in the test. It also gives some general tips that should be helpful in other tests too. It will be useful for you to download the original test paper (click here) and to have it alongside while you are going through the feedback and hints that are contained in the commentary document (click here).

When you have studied everything very carefully, put the commentary document to one side then have another go at the original test paper. Ideally, you would leave a day between reading the commentary and redoing the test. When you have finished, please email your new test paper to me (or deliver it to school, if you are not in quarantine) and I will mark it afresh and email you to tell you your new score and your original score. I will also give you individual feedback about areas for further improvement.
